When he’s not doing yoga or having fun at a music festival, George Ionita is one of our dedicated Customer Support specialists. He describes himself as an IT enthusiast, so being a part of ZeroBounce is exciting. But what are the challenges of his job? George talked about this, and told us why he thinks email verification is a must. Get to know him better by reading this interview!
What are your three favorite things about working at ZeroBounce?
I am most proud of working at ZeroBonce because we interact and have the chance to help people from the entire world. It's a great satisfaction to connect with different persons and see a “Thank you,” even if we use Google to translate it.
The second best thing is working with such a great team. We are a young, open-minded group that share many things in common. We use our knowledge every day to provide a great experience for your customers.
Finally, as an IT enthusiast, I get to learn very interesting things about the email verification process. I see all the details first-hand, as our engineers work together on constantly improving our service. Besides that, I get to watch ZeroBounce growing.
How challenging is it to work in Customer Support?
You would think it's not that hard to stay in front of a computer and talk about how great your company is, and I'll give you that. However, spending eight hours a day on a chair in front of a screen is not that easy, especially when you need to stay focused all the time. This, I would say, is the most challenging part.
When it comes to our email verifier, the challenge is to guide our customers through all the different procedures when they've lost their patience. But I consider it more of a chance to better understand our clients’ needs. Also, it's a great way for me to practice on my communication skills, as I encounter different scenarios that I can get better at.

What's the one thing customers find hard to understand about email verification? And how would you explain it?
Here I could give you quite a few examples. One of the most common misunderstandings is that people tend to think that we validate emails by helping them demonstrate the authenticity of an email. There are two cases, so bear with me:
- Sometimes, people want to verify their personal email address. When you first register on a platform, for security reasons the program may ask you for a phone number. They’ll send you a code for you to insert or maybe a few simple questions like "What's your favorite uncle " or "What Batman movie you like the most".
- When someone receives an email that contains strange, unusual information. People want to know if it's a genuine email or if it's a scam and they have to do something about it.
In both cases, I try to explain as clearly as possible what ZeroBounce really does in terms of email verification. We make sure there is no misunderstanding left. Also, we try to see if there are other ways in which we can help them.

If you had an email list, how often would you clean it?
I’d start by saying that email verification is a must. As your list grows in number, it can become more unstable. As a result, it can contain temporary emails that will surely bounce after a while. Spam traps, abuse emails, typos. Harmful addresses like that will impact your sender reputation. In the worst cases, the IP address can be blacklisted causing you massive loss. I would use an email verification system as frequently as possible. Anywhere between two to three months should be fine.
If you were a customer, what would you look for in an email verification system?
Accuracy is definitely the most important aspect that I would consider when searching for an email verification service. ZeroBounce does a great job providing up to 98% for most domains.
Then, the integration part is also very important. I would look for a flexible and reliable API that I can integrate into my system or website for real-time email verification. Again, praise the ZeroBounce's engineers for the wrappers available! I’d also like to have direct integration with different email service providers.
Let's not forget about technical support! Any premium email verification service invests time and resources in their support team. People’s interaction with our company should be nothing short of impeccable. This is one of the reasons why I do my best and find the motivation to treat our awesome customers very well.
When you're not helping our customers, what do you most like to do?
Good question, thank you for asking. I like to have a healthy lifestyle. This means no junk food, and luckily for me, I like cooking. I have great and close friends and we share cool activities like cycling, fitness, climbing and sometimes boxing.
As for the fun factor, electronic music festivals and yoga postures for back pain keep me going with a smile on my face. Thanks to ZeroBounce, I can afford to invest in a motorcycle next year and explore Romania's beautiful roads. I already have my license and can't wait for the winter to pass. See you in traffic!
