ZeroBounce Official for Claude — Setup & Usage Guide
Overview
ZeroBounce Official is a connector that lets Claude validate email addresses through your ZeroBounce account, right inside a chat. Setup takes about two minutes: connect it once with your API key, switch it on in a chat, then ask Claude to validate an address.
What you need before you start
- A Claude account (the connector works on the Free plan, as shown in these screenshots).
- A ZeroBounce account with available credits. Each validation uses one credit.
- Your ZeroBounce API key, found in the ZeroBounce API Dashboard.
Step 1: Open Settings > Plugins
Start from the Claude home screen. Open Settings from your account menu (your name at the bottom left), or go to Customize in the sidebar.
In Settings, select Plugins under Customize. If you have not added any plugins yet, you will see the "Add your first plugins" card.
Step 2: Find ZeroBounce and click Connect
Type zerobounce in the Plugins search box. The ZeroBounce Official connector (by ZeroBounce, "Validate your emails instantly") appears in the results. Click Connect next to it.
Step 3: Enter your ZeroBounce API key
A "Connect ZeroBounce to Claude" page opens. Paste your API key into the ZeroBounce API key field and click Connect.
- Don't have your key handy? Click the ZeroBounce API Dashboard link on that page to open it.
- Copy the key and paste it in. Keep it private; it gives access to your account credits.
- After you click Connect, you return to Claude and the connector shows as connected.
Step 4: Turn the connector on in a chat
On the home screen, click + in the message box, hover Connectors, and make sure the ZeroBounce Official toggle is on (blue). This works in both Chat and Cowork modes.
From the same menu, Manage connectors reopens the connector settings and Tool access controls how Claude loads the connector's tools.
Step 5: Validate an email
Ask Claude in plain language, for example: Validate valid@example.com. Claude loads the connector's tools, calls ZeroBounce, and summarizes the result.
Fields Claude reports
| Field | What it means | Example value |
|---|---|---|
| Status | Overall verdict, plus any sub-status flags | valid (no sub-status flags) |
| Domain | The address's domain and its age | example.com, about 9,692 days old |
| MX record | Whether the domain has a mail server | found (mx.example.com) |
| Free email provider | Whether it's a free provider such as Gmail | no |
| Catch-all domain | Whether the domain accepts all addresses | not reported |
| Suggested correction | A likely fix for a typo | none |
| First / last name | Name data ZeroBounce holds, when available | zero / bounce (placeholder) |
You can also paste several addresses at once; Claude can validate batches of up to 100 in one request.
Tips, credits and troubleshooting
- Credits: every address validated uses one credit from your ZeroBounce account. Check your balance in the ZeroBounce dashboard before large batches.
- Test addresses:
valid@example.comis a ZeroBounce test address; its name data ("zero" / "bounce") is placeholder, not a real person. - Claude doesn't use ZeroBounce: open + > Connectors and confirm the ZeroBounce Official toggle is on for that chat.
- Connection fails or results stop: your API key may be wrong or revoked. Go to Settings > Plugins, search for ZeroBounce, and connect again with a fresh key.
- Badge: the connector is listed with a Community badge in Settings > Plugins.
